The Bad Luck Continues

June 13th, 2010 at 06:39 pm

My husband is in his 40's, is a bike-rider, and in good health, but he's been having chest pains for the past year and his blood pressure has been high. A year ago he went to a cardiologist and they did a stress test and echocardiogram which showed no problems. This weekend he had a heart attack. His 3 main arteries were all blocked, and they put a stent in each one. The doctor said if this was 5 years ago he would have been having triple bypass surgery.

In a way I'm glad they found out there actually is a problem so we can deal with it and move on. But it's also a very scary time until they get everything balanced out. He will be in the hospital at least one more day.

While in the waiting room I went to call relatives from my cell phone and there was a crack in my cell phone display and the whole screen was black, so even though it was working I couldn't see to dial numbers. Have no idea how I broke it, but the past couple of days have been a bit of a blur.

The kids and I are on our way back to the hospital now. I'll keep you posted with how things go.

Thank goodness modern medicine can help him, and that he's OK. Hopefully you are taking care of yourself too.

So sorry to hear the news.

As terrible as my dad's recent heart attack was (very similar) we were relieved to find out why his health had been going downhill. He had all sorts of medical tests and EKGs just before his heart attack - was given a perfectly clean bill of health. But that said, he is doing great now that he knows what the problem is. A mixed blessing of sorts. Hang in there!

Glad your husband is okay. PLEASE look into the benefits of Cayenne Pepper, I personally know of someone who was able to avoid bypass surgery after having stents put in by using Cayenne pepper capsules! Good luck and take care of yourself.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. Like Monkey said, mixed blessing. Now that I think about it, last night I had this overwhelming urge to pray for all my cyber friends here on Saving Advice. I am not making this up. And I did, prayed for everyone here. I must sound like a weirdo, but I am not.

Oh, my! Missed your post a week ago but did not want to just read and run today. Heart attacks are scary for everyone. I am amazed these days how quickly people are back to their normal activities and become healthier than ever. Here's hoping it works that way for your husband.
