Extra Costs

June 8th, 2010 at 09:53 pm

I'd been doing pretty well on my quest to spend less money, but the last two days have been a bit of a set back. First my daughter came to me with her gym shoes worn clear through the bottom. I hate to buy her new shoes so close to the end of the school year, but there is still two weeks of school to go, and she has two mile runs coming up so I really can't wait. I hope her feet don't grow too much over the summer and she can still wear them next year. Her feet are only a half size smaller than mine right now.

Then the washing machine broke. I tried to go online and find a fix I could do myself, but that didn't work. The repairman is here now and it's going to be $150.

Then I pulled out the vaccuum cleaner, and of course it broke down too. I'm hoping what they say about bad things coming in 3's is true and this will be the end of it.

Oh dear! Make sure your daughter continues running through the summer to get the wear out of those shoes! I take it she is 11, when will she be 12? I think my girls had their full shoe size by 12. PS We all 4 of us now wear the same size!

Hopefully the vacuum cleaner will lead to the end of the string of poor luck, there! I have been watching my five year old outgrow her shoes lately at a record pace, and it's startling. Shoes are expensive, and I hope that we'll have some insurance that we can find some on sale for when she goes back to school in the Fall. Good luck!

Have a shoe story to update. Granddaughter was wearing 5.5. New shoes bought a month ago. Having a sale at department store, needed some tennis shoes, got measured. She is in a 7! Daughter felt like bad mother. Toddlers feet grow very fast!
